Plum Creek Lumber was a
creation of D. C. Dunham who operated a box factory at Bemidji, Mn until the end of WW 2, at which time he moved
all of the machinery to Montana where
Plum Creek was put into operation and expanded over the years. After the death of Dunham the operation was
purchased from the estate by NP
under the guidance of Lou Menk. Lou

A little general info on
Plum Creek. This was a firm established by D. C. Dunham who ran a box factory at Bemidji, Mn during WW2. After
the war he moved his equipment to Montana
amd set up operation there, naming his firm
Plum Creek Lumber Co. I understand that "Plum Creek" was the name of an actual creek near
Anoka, Mn with which Dunham had some
early connection. Prior to the NP/GN merger, and under the hand of
Lou Menk, the NP purchased the
company after the demise of Mr. Dunham, and hired an official of the M&O paper Company to run it (his name
escapes me at the moment). Lou Menk,
