Tacoma Division Local Train Brief

 

Train:                          Nos. 1288-1289 Centralia-Chehalis Switcher, 3rd Subdivision

 

Frequency:                   Daily except Sunday.

 

Purpose:                       Responsible for station and industrial switching between Centralia and Winlock which includes Napavine, Chehalis and the Chehalis Industrial Park.  Interchange with the Milwaukee at Chehalis once daily.  (This traffic is primarily ammunition and explosives destined for Bangor.

 

Traffic Handled:            Holman Lumber Co. And Hokenson Pole Co, at Napavine; Chehalis Grain Co., West Coast Grocery Co., National Fruit Co., Schuster’s Inc., West Coast Mills, Inc., Central Readi-Mix Co., at Chehalis; and other traffic made up primarily of lumber and lumber products, frozen foods, milk products, feed, fertilizer and the ammunition and explosives received from the Milwaukee at Chehalis.

 

Schedule:                      On duty Centralia at 7:30 AM Monday through Saturday.  Return to Centralia upon completion of assignment.

 

Terminal Handling         Connections: Time freight trains picking up and setting out at Centralia and 1286.

 

Restrictions:  Bridge and engine on 3rd.

 

Head End Grouping:     Milwaukee interchange cars grouped, followed by Chehalis and Napavine cars.

 

Miles:                           17.3 Centralia to Winlock.

                                    Total 34.6.
