St. Paul Division Local Train Brief

Train: Nos. 445-446 Staples-Wahpeton, Wahpeton-Staples

Frequency: Staples to Wahpeton on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; Wahpeton to Staples on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Saturday layover at Staples.

Purpose: Performs switching service, handles LCL, carloads of freight at all stations on 5^th Sub., St. Paul Division between Wadena and Wahpeton, N.D. Preponderance of station work at Hoot Lake and Fergus Falls. Handles carloads of coal for Ottertail Power Company at Hoot Lake loads on westbound trip and empties on eastbound. Important customers; Flom Grain and Feed, Wilcox Lbr. Co., Belmont Funeral Home and Jenmo Ford and Henning Hatchery at Henning; Farmers Union GTA Elev., Home Gas Co., Everts Lbr., Smith Farm Supply and E.J. Johnson Plumbing at Battle Lake; Ottertail Power Co., Montana Flour Mills, North Star Dairy, Farmers Coop Elev., Fergus Rendering Co., National Tea Packing Co., and Hel-O-Pak Insulation Co., at Fergus Falls; Cargill Inc., Schuler Grain Co., H.J. Schweitzer Div., Breckenridge Lbr. Co., Lampert Lbr. Co. and Erickson Hellekson co., at Breckenridge; Foxhome Feed and Grain at Foxhome, Minnesota.

Traffic Handled: Coal, lumber products, furniture, dry milk, fertilizer, seed and fed, grain, building materials, appliances an machinery.

Schedule: On duty Staples 1:00 PM on Sundays 6:30 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays; on duty Wahpeton 8:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.

Connection: Trains 605 and 631 at Staples.
