  1. These demos only work on Windows-based com= puters due to a defect in Microsoft’s PowerPoint for MAC. When this pr= oblem is fixed the instructions will work for MAC and Windows machines.
  2. Be sure you have installed the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer = and Windows Media Player softwar= e on your computer.
  3. Click the name of folder of the Modeling d= emo you wish to run.
  4. Download both PowerPoint and Narration fil= es to a known location on your computer’s hard drive.=
  5. Right-click the downloaded PowerPoint file= and select ‘Open With:  PowerPoint Viewer.’


The NP Modeling Demonstrations on the site require that your computer have Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer and Windows Media Player software ins= talled to play. This software can be downloaded for free by clicking one of the following links for:

Operating Instructions

To view a Modeling Demonstration file in PowerPoint format, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click the title= link of the demonstration you wish to view.
  2. Right-click the Narration file and select the Save Target As… option.
  3. Locate the fold= er in which to save the downloaded files and click Save.
  4. Wait until the = entire file is downloaded.  The= size of each file is noted in its description as these files are quite large.  If you are on a = dial-up connection, the download can take a considerable time.
  5. Repeat steps 2 = through 4 above for the PowerPoint file.
  6. Open Windows Ex= plorer or MAC file structure and locate the downloaded PowerPoint file.=
  7. To start the demonstration, right-click the PowerPoint file and select Open With:  PowerPoint Viewer.
  8. After the last = slide, click the black screen to return to the opening PowerPoint screen.
  9. You may repeat = the demonstration as many times as you want and delete the files when you= have run them as much as you want.

Ending a Slide Show

  1. To end a slide = show before the last slide has finished, right-click anywhere on the scree= n and select End Show.
  2. You will be ret= urned to the opening PowerPoint screen.
