Esjay is between Grandview and Sunnyside. The town was renamed Lichty in 1906 by the North Yakima and Valley Railway Company when the Sunnyside Line was completed. The town was named in honor of the H M Lichty family, from whom a right-of-way had been acquired. Esjay never earned a post office.
