At a JSRH work session on Feb 14, 2005 we covered the window openings with plywood. This completes the sealing of the room from the outside. John Thomas and Doug Complin (GN guys) lift plywood into place.

NP 2156 is a Class Q-3 4-6-2. This was the 9th locomotive built in the series and was delivered in March 1909.  This locomotive saw service on the Montana Division along with her sister 2157. They were assigned to the NCL between Livingston and Butte. Headlight of NP 2156

2156 carried a weight of 236900 lbs over her 4-6-2 wheel base. Her 200 PSI boiler pressure pushed her 22 x 26-inch cylinders to produce 31,000 lbs of tractive effort. Smoke box of NP 2156

In the cylinder housing between the superheater and the steam chest there is a passage that needs repair. The cost of this piece is $10,000.00 which is a small amount of the total cost but none the less a very important part in the restoration. NP 2156 Cylinders
